February 04 – Black Day
[Wednesday February 04 2009 09:00:51 AM GMT]
coolswiss.com While the Sinhala Nation is celebrating its 61st Anniversary of Independence on February 04 with arrogance and superiority, the Tamils, who lost their sovereignty to the Sinhala Nation, remember this day as one of deep sorrow and shame.
Like the just and fair demands of the Tamils for their rights were ignored and denied by the British Rulers previously, we are able to realize that the international community too practices the same attitude presently.

When it became evident that they cannot live with respect, dignity and freedom in their own land of birth, the Tamils resorted to fight for their just rights. They were forced to take up arms later on, when their struggle of peaceful means was crushed with force.

Even though the Sinhala Nation and the International Community are well aware of this truth, it appears that they have joined hands in preventing Tamils getting their just rights.

Whether the Singhalese and the International Community like it or not, no one can deny the Tamils their right to live. Even if the armed struggle is the only possible means to achieve it, nobody can deny this right too.

The forces that have joined together to destroy the Tamils’ demand for nationhood, should bear this reality in mind.

What have the Tamils enjoyed during the 61 years of Independence? Discrimination, disgrace, genocide, forced evacuations, arrests, disappearances, sexual abuse and all the other kinds of oppressions that the enslaved people are forced to undergo and nothing else.

The Sinhala Nation performs all such kinds of atrocities with the help of some hirelings who call themselves ‘Tamils’. The International Community, while talking about human rights, condemn the Sinhala Government for formality’s sake but support the Genocide indirectly.

The present humanitarian tragedy in Vanni is a glaring example. Under the guise of military action, the Sinhala nation is carrying out ethnic cleansing effectively, identifying the International Community in its side.

Meanwhile, the International Community, which had nursed and bred the state terrorism, finds it difficult to restrain it. The call for cease-fire on humanitarian grounds has only reaped spite in reply. The Ambassadors of some countries are threatened with expulsion.

This kind of actions may surprise the International Community, but not the Tamils who are well aware the horrific nature of the Sinhala chauvinism through their own experience.

Tamil People expect eagerly whether the International Community realize the fact at this high time and consider their just demands.

On the other hand, it is not wrong expecting others to understand us and accept our position. Anyhow, if we want rights none other than us ourselves should fight for them. To achieve this, all Tamils should get united.
